Passengers arriving at Lanzarote Airport are once again facing lengthy waits for taxis, with fresh complaints from both residents and holidaymakers over ongoing delays outside the terminal.
Images recorded yesterday (Wednesday) show hundreds of people queuing at the taxi rank outside Terminal 1 of César Manrique Lanzarote Airport. At one point, there were reportedly no taxis available at all, leaving travellers waiting for transport after landing.
The shortage of taxis has become a familiar problem at the airport, regularly leading to queues of 30 minutes or more during busy periods. The situation has prompted repeated complaints from both locals and visitors, particularly during peak arrival times.
In 2025, the Lanzarote Cabildo began the process of giving the airport special status to allow more taxis from across the island to operate there during busy periods. The aim was to reduce waiting times, but passengers say the problem continues.
However, despite those efforts, passengers continue to experience long waits, with many saying the problem has yet to be resolved.
