La Palma is now on level 2 Red Alert for volcanic risk

The General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands, in application of the Volcanic Risk Plan (Pevolca), has activated the level 2 Red Alert emergency situation after the volcanic eruption that began this afternoon in the Cabeza de Vaca area, in the municipality of El Paso on La Palma.

As reported by the General Directorate, the level 2 emergency situation has been activated in the municipalities of Tazacorte, El Paso, Fuencaliente, Villa de Mazo and Los Llanos de Aridane, directly affecting the municipalities of El Paso and Los Llanos de Aridane, municipality to which the magma flows are heading.
