Holidaymakers flying from Lanzarote to London Luton with Jet2.com received a cheerful send-off this week as the airline celebrated the launch of its new route with courtesy cakes, cookies, and warm hospitality.
Passengers departing at 11:40am were treated to a surprise after check-in, with a welcome from the airport’s director and senior executives from Jet2.
The new route forms part of Jet2’s growing presence in Lanzarote, where it will operate up to 39 flights per week this summer and offer a total of 230,000 seats. Across the Canary Islands, the airline plans to add more than 126,000 extra seats this season.
Jet2.com, which carried 2.4 million passengers to the Canary Islands in 2024, expects to surpass that figure this year. The airline is forecasting over 1.6 million tourist arrivals in the region this summer alone, an 8% increase compared to last year.
The expansion underlines the enduring popularity of the Canaries as a top holiday destination for British travellers and highlights Jet2's strategic commitment to the islands.
