A woman had to be rescued by firefighters on Sunday evening after becoming trapped inside a toilet at the Las Cucharas Shopping Centre in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote.

Emergency services were called to the shopping centre after the woman was unable to get out of the locked cubicle. Before emergency crews arrived, several members of the public tried to force the toilet door open, but were unsuccessful.

Firefighters used specialist equipment to remove the damaged lock and safely open the door, allowing the woman to leave unharmed. She did not require medical treatment and was reported to be in good health.

After the rescue, firefighters repaired the door as best they could, replacing the lock, which was found to be in very poor condition.
