EasyJet opens new base in Birmingham with flights to Tenerife and Fuerteventura

EasyJet have announced that they are opening a new three-aircraft base in Birmingham early next year. The airline has confirmed the 16 destinations which it will fly to from March 18th, and among them are five in Spain and the Canary Islands.

The low-cost airline will offer flights from Birmingham to Barcelona, Malaga, Alicante, Tenerife and Fuerteventura, as well as to other international markets such as Germany (Berlin), Turkey (Antalya and Dalaman), Greece (Heraklion, Rhodes, Corfu and Kos), Cyprus (Larnaca), Tunisia (Enfida) and Egypt (Sharm el Sheikh).

The new base, the first that easyJet has opened in the UK for over a decade, has allowed it to further expand its network from Birmingham, with 16 new routes. This means that, in addition to the 13 domestic and international services it already operates, easyJet will now offer a total of 29 routes to the UK, Europe and North Africa.

The flights for this new operation can be booked from today, Thursday 30th November, via the easyJet website as follows:

Barcelona (starting March 18th): three weekly flights throughout the year.

Alicante (March 19th): twice a week throughout the year.

Tenerife (March 19th): twice a week throughout the year.

Malaga (March 21st): two weekly flights throughout the year.

Fuerteventura (April 4th): once a week throughout the year.

Ali Gayward, national manager of easyJet in the UK said: “Investing in a ninth base in the UK strengthens easyJet’s network, positioning it as the airline of choice to serve British consumers and capture travel demand, further increasing our share of the UK leisure market for both the airline and easyJet holidays”.
