British tourist rescued after drowning off a beach in Costa Adeje

The Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) responded to an urgent call yesterday afternoon (Tuesday), due to an 87-year-old British male tourist with signs of drowning on La Pinta Beach in Costa Adeje, in the south of Tenerife, as reported by the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).

The 1-1-2 emergency call centre received an alert at 12:40pm requesting medical assistance for a swimmer who had been rescued from the water showing signs of drowning, so CECOES immediately activated the necessary emergency resources.

Upon arrival at the beach, SUC medical personnel assessed and provided assistance to the elderly gentleman, managing to stabilise him so that he could be transported to hospital, in a moderate condition, for further treatment.

Local Police collaborated with the healthcare professionals during the incident on the beach.
