The new dock in the port of Los Cristianos will be finished next week

The works to reinforce the dock of the Los Cristianos port to protect it from future storms will be finished next week, according to sources from the Port Authorities. The works have included the placing of 1,258 concrete blocks along 155 metres of the shelter breakwater.

For the placement of these blocks, measuring 2.32 x 2.32 metres and weighing 30 tons each, the biggest crane with the highest lifting capacity in the Canary Islands has been used, which is capable of lifting up to 600 tons and which has been located in two positions on both sides of the maritime station.

In addition, a high resolution underwater camera or echo sounder has been used that offered real time images so that the blocks were correctly crimped in to place with each other.
