Government changes decision, mainland travellers WILL need tests

The Government of the Canary Islands has changed their decision and have announced this afternoon that they are extending the requirement for national travellers from the mainland, to contain the transmission of Covid-19 through ports an airports in the archipelago.

The order will come from the Minister of Health himself, Blas Trujillo, and will be effective in the next few days overriding the previous announcement that tests wouldn’t be needed from Monday.

They have justified this decision after confirming that between December 18th 2020 and April 4th this year, 753 positive cases were detected among travellers who arrived in the Archipelago from other regions of the country.
