Fight in Tenerife "With machetes and everything" caught on video!
The video of an fight involving seven or eight people in Barranco Grande in Santa Cruz yesterday afternoon, has gone viral on social media. Local Police and UNIPOL intervened in the confrontation that took place at around 5pm and was caught on camera and posted online showing a heated exchange between two groups of people with iron bars, bats, and a machete.
On the video you can hear one of the men shout "Fight with your hands, you little s**t" (in Spanish), shortly before two of the other group destroy a car, an orange Fiat, in which one of the parties was travelling, with bats and, according to what is heard in the video, "with a machete."
The Santa Cruz Local Police have confirmed on Twitter that fortunately there were no physical injuries to anyone involved, just material damage, mainly to the car as seen.
The cause of the fight unknown at this moment in time, although the Local Police believe that it is over the telling of a financial debt. During the intervention, officers identified the three occupants of the Fiat, who are all from the same family, and found two knives inside the car.
After the inquiries and statements collected by the agents after the event, the search for the other parties involved was extended, and they located the vehicle they used to get to fight, a green Opel Corsa, which they found parked in the San Matías neighbourhood of La Laguna, without its occupants. This vehicle was removed from the public thoroughfare, and several machetes and were found inside, assumed to have been used in the altercation.
A Police spokesman said that the investigation is on-going, and with witness statements, the car, and the video footage, they are confident of finding all those responsible very quickly.
