A 34-year-old woman has been arrested at Gran Canaria Airport after allegedly stabbing a man in a tourist complex in Maspalomas, in the south of the island.

The suspect was detained by National Police officers as she attempted to board a flight to Germany, just hours after the attack. She is being investigated on suspicion of attempted murder.

The incident happened on the afternoon of 24th March, when emergency services received reports of a stabbing at an apartment complex. Police were quickly sent to the area to deal with the situation.

Witnesses told officers that a group had been socialising earlier in the day and drinking alcohol when an argument broke out. During the dispute, the woman, who was said to be a friend of the couple staying in the apartment, allegedly attacked one of the men without warning.

He was stabbed several times in the back and leg, suffering serious injuries.

After the attack, the suspect reportedly left the complex without helping the victim and made her way to the airport in an attempt to leave the island. Police launched an urgent search operation and were able to locate and arrest her in the boarding area shortly before departure.

The injured man was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital for further care. Despite the seriousness of his injuries, his condition is said to be stable and improving.

The woman has now been brought before a court as the investigation continues to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
