A 36-year-old woman and an eight-year-old boy were treated for gas inhalation late on Friday (2nd January) due to a faulty igniter in their home’s boiler in El Rosario, Tenerife.

The incident occurred at around 11.45pm on Calle El Sino, according to reports from the Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES).

Emergency services were activated immediately after the alert was received. Firefighters inspected the property, disconnected the heating system, and ventilated the building to make it safe before anyone could enter.

SUC medical staff assessed the mother and son to make sure they were ok before transporting them by ambulance to the University Hospital Nuestra Señora de Candelaria for routine observation.

No further injuries were reported.
