Wind and fog cause diversions, delays, and cancellations at a Tenerife airport
Tenerife, under a yellow weather warning for strong winds since yesterday (Friday), has once again experienced the adverse effects of weather conditions on flights. Yesterday afternoon, apart from strong winds, fog and mist caused major disruptions at the North Airport.
As reported by Air Traffic Controllers on X (Twitter), low visibility due to fog led to delays in arrivals and departures, with more than a dozen flights diverted to the Tenerife South airport.
Binter Airlines also reported delays, cancellations, and diversions due to adverse weather conditions at Los Rodeos because at least six flights were affected by the bad weather.
So far today operations have been smoother, with the yellow weather warning ending at 6pm. The island, along with four others, has been on pre-alert for strong winds.
