Video shows the real state of Tenerife's roads when it rains

Rainfall has made its appearance throughout the Canary Islands in the last few days, bringing substantial downpours to certain areas of the islands, including Tenerife. While the island needs this rain, which has been beneficial in several ways, including helping combat the Tenerife fire, it has once again exposed the poor condition of our roads.

A video, captured on the TF-1 motorway near Las Eras, displays a genuine waterfall resulting from the recent rains, pouring onto one carriageway as vehicles continue to navigate through it.

When it rains in the Canary Islands, it has the same kind of effect as when it is icy in the UK, as months of dust, dirt, and oily deposits, make the roads extremely slippery and dangerous, especially for those drivers unaware of it.

This has been highlighted by the number of accidents in Tenerife over the weekend on both the TF-1 and TF-5 motorways causing huge tailbacks.
