VIDEO: WTF! Tourists videoed riding mobility scooters on busy roads of Los Cristianos
A video circulating on social media has sparked widespread criticism after a group of tourists were filmed riding mobility scooters dangerously on the busy roads of Los Cristianos this week. Although these electric scooters are designed primarily for people with reduced mobility, they have increasingly become a recreational vehicle for ‘lazy’ visitors.
The video, posted on Instagram by user andreykrivashov and set to the song Welcome to the Jungle by Guns N’ Roses, shows the group driving recklessly around the main roundabout at the entrance to Los Cristianos, which can be dangerous for motorists at the best of times, before heading up the dual carriageway towards the TF-1 motorway.
The video then captures them travelling the wrong way up the uphill lane of Avenida Juan Carlos I and crossing the central reservation at least twice, behaviour that puts both themselves and other road users at risk.
The incident has angered residents, echoing a growing concern about irresponsible behaviour in popular tourist areas of the island. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the individuals involved have been identified.
The episode has reignited debate on road safety, particularly regarding the misuse of mobility scooters and the challenges posed by increasing visitor numbers in densely populated resort areas.
