VIDEO: Two paragliders rescued in two separate incidents in the south of Tenerife

Two paragliders have needed help from the Emergency Services in two separate incidents in the south of Tenerife over the last few days after one sustained multiple injuries in a fall and the other was left stranded hanging off a rock in Adeje.

On Wednesday a 47-year-old female paraglider experienced a fall in Ifonche, a municipality in Adeje, needing medical help after sustaining several injuries.

The Emergency Services received an alert at around 1:30pm and dispatched the relevant resources to the location given, where medical personnel treated her before taking her by ambulance to Hospiten Sur in Playa Las Americas for further treatment.

On Thursday the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) dispatched a GES helicopter to the Barranco del Inferno area of Adeje after a second paraglider needed help after being left hanging on the edge of a rock at the top of the ravine.

Although the rescue was complicated, the crew managed to airlift the injured paraglider to safety by descending with the cradle on the back face of the rock so as not to harm them by the impact of the helicopter.

He was then flown to the Tenerife Fire Consortium helipad in Adeje, where an ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) was waiting and confirmed that the man was unharmed.
