In a bewildering incident last night, a man brought traffic in Llano de Camello in Las Chafiras, in the south of Tenerife to a complete standstill by driving in the wrong direction around a roundabout with no lights on, not once, but ten times, according to eye witness accounts.
They said: "He's been going around and around in circles, at least ten times or more, no exaggeration."
Other drivers, who were sat in traffic jams caused by the bizarre situation, alerted the police to intervene and restore normal traffic flow. Once the Local Police arrived at the scene, they stopped the car by parking in front of it, and apprehended the man, removing him from the car.
Initially, it appeared that the man may have become disoriented after leaving work in the area. Still, despite testing negative for alcohol and drug consumption, he reportedly displayed a low blood sugar level due to his diabetes, which he allegedly claims led to his state of confusion.
