VIDEO: Police car chase ends in a pile-up in Costa Adeje
A police car chase in the south of Tenerife ended in a multi-car crash on near Quirón Hospital in San Eugenio, leaving several vehicles badly damaged, one car overturned and a number of people arrested, as reported by Diario de Avisos.
The incident happened yesterday, Saturday 7th March, and caused major disruption in the busy tourist area, with the road temporarily blocked while emergency services dealt with the aftermath. The dramatic scene also attracted a large crowd of onlookers.
Cars damaged and one overturned
Photos and video from the scene show several vehicles involved in the collision on both sides of the road.
One car ended up on its side in the middle of the street, with its boot open after the impact. Another vehicle had its front end completely smashed in.
The crash left damaged vehicles and debris scattered across the road, creating a chaotic scene in one of the main routes through the resort area of southern Tenerife.
Several arrests made
Officers from the National Police quickly arrived at the scene with several patrol cars and secured the area following the pursuit.
Police confirmed that several people were detained as part of the operation. In footage from the scene, one suspect can be seen being held on the ground by officers while police carried out their investigation.
Authorities have not yet released further details about what led to the chase or whether anyone was injured, and the incident remains under investigation.
