A man has been filmed dangerously climbing an approach lighting system at Lanzarote Airport, sparking serious safety concerns and prompting a police response.
The incident occurred just after 10:00am yesterday morning, Friday, near Playa Lima. Footage captured by a bystander shows the man scaling the tall structure and running across it, despite the obvious dangers.
The woman who filmed the scene said she contacted police immediately. However, the man had already fled by the time officers arrived.
The approach lighting system is a critical part of airport infrastructure, used to guide aircraft during final approach. Any interference with the equipment poses significant risks to both aircraft and passengers and is strictly prohibited under aviation safety regulations.
Authorities have yet to confirm whether the man has been identified or if an official investigation has been launched.
