The crew of a GES emergency helicopter successfully rescued a 59-year-old foreign tourist on Sunday (August 6th), who suffered an ankle injury whilst hiking in the Paisaje Lunar area of Granadilla in the south of Tenerife.
The incident took place at 1:43pm and CECOES mobilized multiple emergency services to guarantee the quick and safe recovery of the injured woman who couldn’t walk.
The Red Cross managed to reach her on foot and coordinated with the crew on the helicopter so that she could be safely winched up onto the aircraft.
Once on board, they flew her to the helipad at the Tenerife North Airport where a medical team were waiting to give her any necessary medical assistance before transferring her to the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital.
This incident highlights the importance of highly trained and coordinated emergency services, as well as the courage of people working on the front lines to ensure the safety and well-being of those in difficult situations.
