A 31-year-old man was airlifted to safety on Saturday after suffering a fall on the Montaña Blanca hiking trail in Teide National Park, as reported by the Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES).

The incident occurred at around 12:30pm, when the 1-1-2 operations room received an alert reporting that a hiker required urgent medical assistance following a fall. Emergency teams were immediately mobilised.

Rescuers from the Canary Islands Government’s GES helicopter descended from the aircraft to reach the injured man, provided initial care on the mountainside, and then winched him aboard. He was flown to the La Guancha helipad, where he was met by medical teams from the Canary Islands Emergency Service.

The hiker, who sustained a moderate upper-limb injury, was then transferred by ambulance to Hospiten Bellevue University Hospital foir treatment.

The operation also involved firefighters, members of the Red Cross Immediate Emergency Response Team (ERIE), the Guardia Civil, and personnel from the Environment Department and Teide National Park.
