UPDATE: Suspect confirmed as victim’s son after fatal shooting in Costa del Silencio
The Guardia Civil has confirmed that the man arrested in connection with the killing of a woman in Costa del Silencio (south Tenerife), is her 53-year-old son, and that she died from gunshot wounds.
The victim, an 82-year-old German resident, was found dead on Saturday night (31st January) at her home with clear signs of a violent death. Officers later recovered five spent pistol casings at the scene, confirming that a firearm was used.
Investigators have established that both the victim and the suspect are German nationals. The man was located and arrested within 24 hours after fleeing the apartment in the family’s car. He remains in custody and is expected to appear in court today, Tuesday.
Early reports also suggested the presence of a handwritten note believed to have been left by the suspect before leaving the property. The exact motive for the killing is still under investigation, and officers continue to gather evidence and statements from neighbours who reported hearing a heated argument shortly before the incident.
