Two teenagers have been arrested following a violent robbery at a holiday complex in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote, according to reports from the Guardia Civil.
The incident involved a British tourist who reported that he and his partner were inside their apartment when two individuals suddenly entered the property armed with knives.
Police say the suspects used the weapons to threaten the couple, demanding valuables including a mobile phone, jewellery, credit cards, the apartment key card, and keys to a hire car.
Following the report, officers launched an investigation to identify and locate those responsible.
Suspects found in another complex
During the search, authorities received a second alert from another complex in Costa Teguise, where a cleaner discovered two young males staying overnight in a room despite not being registered guests.
Officers rushed to the scene and identified the pair, noting they were in possession of several items whose origin they could not explain. Investigators suspected the belongings may have been stolen.
Security footage confirms identities
Further enquiries, including the review of security camera footage, allowed officers to fully identify the suspects. They were recognised based on their appearance, clothing and other distinguishing features.
Both were subsequently arrested on suspicion of robbery with violence and intimidation using a bladed weapon, as well as theft.
The case is now being handled by the investigation team at the main Guardia Civil post in Costa Teguise, with the matter also referred to the juvenile prosecutor’s office in Las Palmas.
