Two unrelated fires triggered a significant emergency response earlier today, Saturday, 17th January, after breaking out in different locations in the south of Tenerife.
The first incident occurred in La Caleta, within the municipality of Adeje. The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed, and fire crews were quickly sent to the scene to prevent the flames from spreading in an area that is both residential and popular with visitors.
Shortly afterwards, a second fire was reported at the well-known Safari Shopping Centre in Playa de las Américas, an area heavily frequented by tourists.
Witnesses close to the scene told Diario de Avisos that a “very dense” cloud of smoke rose above the centre, prompting concern among shoppers and staff. Several nearby businesses temporarily paused activity while emergency teams worked.

Firefighters from across the island, along with additional emergency services, were deployed simultaneously to both locations. Their efforts focused on containing the fires, securing the surrounding areas, and ensuring that the flames did not reach nearby buildings or affect public spaces.
As of now, authorities have not reported any injuries, and the full extent of material damage remains unknown. Investigations will be conducted to determine the causes of both fires.
