Two men jailed after sexual assault in Tenerife
Police in Tenerife have arrested two men in connection with a sexual assault that took place in the early hours of 8th August in Puerto de la Cruz. Both suspects have since been remanded in custody.
According to the National Police, the incident happened at around 5 am when two young women were waiting in the street for a taxi to return home.
At that moment, a vehicle occupied by the two men stopped, and the pair offered to drive the women to their destination.
Instead of taking them home, the men drove to a secluded area on the edge of the town where they allegedly attempted to sexually assault both women. One of the victims managed to fight back, striking one of the attackers before escaping and calling the emergency services.
The second young woman was unable to get away and was subjected to a sexual assault before being left alone near a bar outside the town centre.
An investigation was launched immediately. Officers were able to trace the vehicle, identify the suspects, and arrest them a few days later. The men were brought before the courts and ordered into prison custody.
The National Police has reiterated its commitment to tackling sexual crimes and defending the rights of victims, stressing the importance of reporting such incidents without delay.
