Two men have been arrested and remanded in custody after a violent street robbery in Caleta de Fuste, Fuerteventura.
They are accused of attacking a man with a belt buckle and threatening him with knives before stealing his mobile phone.
They are also said to have taken other personal belongings worth around €500.
When officers arrived at the scene, the victim was being helped by witnesses, but the suspects had already fled. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was taken to a local medical centre for treatment.
Investigators believe the attackers had been moving between properties in Caleta de Fuste and Puerto del Rosario in an attempt to avoid being captured.
A search operation was launched, and both suspects were tracked down and arrested just days after the assault.
They have since appeared before a judge in Puerto del Rosario, who ordered their immediate imprisonment due to the violent nature of the crime and the risk of further offences.
