Two dead in Boxing Day house fire in Tenerife
Two people have died following a house fire early this morning (Friday) in La Matanza de Acentejo, Tenerife, according to the Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES).
Emergency services received calls at around 6:25am alerting them to a blaze in a property on Calle Real. Fire crews were immediately deployed, along with several units from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC).
Firefighters located two unconscious people inside the severely damaged property and brought them outside before extinguishing the flames, which had engulfed the entire property.
SUC medical personnel attempted to resuscitate both victims, who were in cardiorespiratory arrest, but efforts were unsuccessful. A 63-year-old man and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Guardia Civil has taken charge of the investigation, with support from Local Police officers to determine the cause of this tragic incident.
