Two bank holiday weekends are coming up in the Canary Islands

Residents in the Canary Islands have two Bank Holiday weekends to look forward to, with public holidays falling on Mondays in October and November.

The first comes on Monday 12th October, Spain's National Day, known officially as the Fiesta Nacional de España.

Because the public holiday falls on a Monday this year, many people who normally have Saturdays and Sundays off will benefit from a three-day Bank Holiday weekend from Saturday 10th to Monday 12th October.

Another extended weekend follows just three weeks later.

All Saints' Day falls on Sunday 1st November in 2026. In the Canary Islands, the public holiday is transferred to Monday 2nd November, creating another three-day weekend from Saturday 31st October to Monday 2nd November.

Public holidays can affect opening hours at government offices, banks and some businesses, although shops, restaurants, bars and tourist attractions in the main resorts may continue operating, sometimes with different hours.

People planning appointments or administrative procedures around either weekend should therefore check opening times in advance.

For the tourism sector, the two Bank Holiday weekends also provide opportunities for domestic travel and short breaks within the Canary Islands.
