Traffic jams on the TF-1 motorway in the south after a pedestrian is run over

The TF-1 motorway was backed up in the south of Tenerife early this morning after a pedestrian was run over by a car as he was trying to cross the motorway, which led to a further collision between two cars trying to avoid him.

The incident took place at around 6:30am near junction 76 for Torviscas and Fañabe, according to the Emergency Services and Coordination Centre, who received an alert informing them that a man had been knocked over on the motorway and was lying in the road on the northern carriageway.

When medical personnel got there, they found he was in a state of cardiorespiratory arrest, and paramedics managed to stabilise him before taking him to the Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria University Hospital by ambulance, where he is receiving urgent treatment.

The Guardia Civil were also at the scene to direct the traffic and coordinate the road being cleared, and at the same time are investigating the incident to find out what happened and why the man was on the motorway on foot.
