Three arrested after string of robberies in Costa Adeje and Los Cristianos
A criminal gang behind a string of break-ins and thefts at shops and tourist complexes in the south of Tenerife has been brought down following a major police operation. Three men were arrested by the Policía Nacional after weeks of surveillance and intelligence work in the popular holiday areas of Costa Adeje and Los Cristianos.
Police confirmed that the arrests were the result of a three-month investigation involving specialist units working together to track and identify those responsible. The suspects are accused of repeatedly targeting businesses and tourist hotspots, causing alarm among locals and holidaymakers.
A judge has ordered all three to be held in provisional custody while the investigation continues. Their arrests bring the total number of people detained in similar operations over the past month to six, with five already behind bars. Authorities say the dismantling of this group is a huge blow to a crime wave that has been causing growing concern among business owners and visitors in the south of the island.
