A man has been arrested by the Guardia Civil following a violent robbery at a popular shopping and leisure complex in Mogán, Gran Canaria, where a victim was allegedly assaulted and robbed of more than €500.
The incident happened on the night of 24th April inside a gaming arcade located within the complex. According to the victim’s statement, the suspect, who was known to him as a regular customer at the venue, suddenly approached and snatched a banknote that had been left on one of the gambling machines.
The situation escalated shortly afterwards when both men moved into a shared area of the leisure centre. Investigators say the suspect allegedly attacked the victim using punches and neck holds during the confrontation.
During the struggle, the attacker reportedly managed to steal a further €500 that the victim was holding before escaping through the complex.
Following the report, Guardia Civil officers launched an investigation and identified the suspect through CCTV footage and enquiries carried out in the area. Officers also confirmed that the man was regularly connected to the location where the robbery took place.
The suspect was arrested on 12th May after investigators gathered sufficient evidence. Police also collected medical reports relating to the victim’s injuries, along with video recordings linked to the case.
The case has now been passed to the investigating court in San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
