The new Adeje Shopping retail park will open at the end of this year

Leroy Merlin have released details of when its new megaproject in Costa Adeje in the south of Tenerife will open, and what we can expect it to have in terms of shops. Adeje Shopping is currently being constructed on a plot of 365,000 square metres that will have more than 68,000m2 of commercial floor space.

The French multinational DIY giants, who opened their store on the site in 2021 followed by McDonalds last year, say that the development is its largest and most important to date that will bring brands from the capital of Tenerife to the ever-growing south of the island.

The complex, which is being built in phases, will involve a total investment of 120 million euros and will generate more than 1,500 jobs. Of these, 620 positions will be for the first half of the retail park, which is 33,000m2 and close to completing its first phase of construction, which will open its doors at the end of this year, 2023.

Leroy Merlin says they have already filled 95% of this space and have signed contracts with large operators who want to be in there, including HiperDino, MediaMarkt, Decathlon, Kiabi, Kiwoko, Merkal, Bed S, Burger King, and Popeye's, plus there will also be a Repsol petrol station on site.

The developers are confident that the majority of these stores will open this year, with any that don’t, opening their doors during the first quarter of 2024.

After completing this first phase of development, the next phase is expected to be completed between the end of 2024 and 2025.
