The main beach of Playa Jardín is closed due to contamination levels

The Puerto de la Cruz City Council has temporarily closed the main beach at Playa Jardín today (Tuesday) until further notice due to abnormal contamination levels, while the Castillo and Charcón beaches remain open.

In a statement, they explained that during one of the routine water sample collections, regularly conducted at all municipal beaches in the Canary Islands, that were subsequently analysed by the Directorate General of Public Health, altercations in biological parameters and levels were detected.

As a precautionary measure, they have informed swimming is not permitted at the affected beach until further notice.

New tests are scheduled for tomorrow morning (Wednesday), and the beach will be reopened if the results from this analysis show that levels have returned to normal.
