King Harald V of Norway has been urgently admitted to Hospiten Sur in southern Tenerife after suffering from an infection and severe dehydration, the Norwegian Royal House has confirmed.
In a brief but serious statement, officials said the 87-year-old monarch is “in good condition considering the circumstances,” signalling concern but insisting he is stable. The situation has prompted the King’s personal physician to fly immediately to Tenerife to take over aspects of his care alongside local medical teams.
Harald V and Queen Sonja were on a private winter holiday when the King suddenly required hospital treatment, cutting their stay short and drawing international attention to his health.
The Royal House has promised a full update today (Wednesday), once the King’s personal doctor has completed a full medical assessment. Until then, no additional details have been released.
