New night-time works began on the TF-1 between the Oroteanda and Las Chafiras junctions last night, as the third-lane widening project between San Isidro and Las Américas on this stretch of motorway in the south of Tenerife nears completion.
Final stages of the Las Chafiras project
Between 15th and 21st September, the TF-1 will be restored to its final layout. This includes resurfacing, repositioning of concrete barriers, installation of safety railings, junction connections, and the updating of both vertical and horizontal road signage.
The closures will take place overnight to minimise disruption on one of Tenerife’s busiest stretches of road, which carries around 90,000 vehicles daily, as well as traffic from the TF-65, TF-652, and TF-655, plus the nearby Las Chafiras industrial estate.
Ongoing improvements
Additional works are also taking place until 21st September, including the installation of large-format signage, gantries, panels, and safety barriers. These operations require cranes and heavy machinery, leading to partial lane closures.
The final phase, scheduled between 21st September and 25th October, will see the completion of the road surface layer across the entire section and the application of permanent lane markings and signage.
Driver advice
The Directorate General of Road Infrastructure has urged drivers to exercise caution, follow on-site signage, and respect the instructions of road crews during the works and any diversions in place.
