The cable car at Mt Teide is closed due to strong winds
The strong winds that have put Tenerife on an active yellow weather warning today (Wednesday), have led to the Teleférico del Teide (cable car) being closed all day.
Both the base station of the cable car and the upper station in La Rambleta, which is 3,555 metres above sea level, are closed but are expected to be operational again tomorrow as AEMET are forecasting winds to drop.
A total of 14 Spanish provinces have active weather warnings today including Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the island of Gran Canaria, as instructed by the State Meteorological Agency, for strong winds and coastal phenomena.
