Puerto de la Cruz is getting ready to host the largest beer festival in its history, with the 52nd edition of its Bavarian Week and Oktoberfest set to bring music, food, and fun to the town. The highlight of the celebrations will take place on Friday, 29th and Saturday, 30th August, on the Explanada del Muelle, when residents and visitors can enjoy the traditional Oktoberfest atmosphere right by the sea.
The Bavarian Week will begin on 24th August with a concert at the Costa Martiánez Tourist Complex, followed by street parades through the town centre on Tuesday and Thursday, and the popular Loro Parque train tour on Wednesday.
German bands Reinheitsgebot, Hüttenzauber, and Blechbuckel have travelled from Germany especially to take part, bringing authentic Bavarian music and culture to Tenerife.
The festival will culminate in the weekend’s Oktoberfest, a free-entry event offering German beers, traditional pastries, and an expanded gastronomic experience alongside live music. The Explanada del Muelle will be transformed into a lively meeting place for families and friends, creating the perfect summer atmosphere for both locals and holidaymakers.
Tourism and cultural representatives highlighted the importance of the event for Puerto de la Cruz. Mayor Leopoldo Afonso described it as “a clear example of the cosmopolitan and festive spirit that defines our city,” while Councillor for Tourism and Culture, Desiré Díaz Torres, emphasised the festival’s value in attracting thousands of visitors every year and strengthening the town’s reputation as one of the most vibrant destinations in the Canary Islands.
Sponsors and partners also expressed their support. Antonia Schweigel of Schauinsland-Reisen noted the rise in bookings for Puerto de la Cruz, while Yeray Ramos, representing Paulaner in the Canaries, said: “It is an honour to be part of such a historic event, bringing a little taste of Munich’s Oktoberfest to Tenerife.” Representatives from Loro Parque and the Hotel Botánico also highlighted the festival’s role as a cultural bridge and a boost for local businesses.
With over half a century of tradition, Puerto de la Cruz’s Oktoberfest has become a highlight of the Canary Islands' summer, blending German heritage with Canarian hospitality in a unique seaside setting. Organisers from the Centre for Tourism Initiatives (CIT) invite everyone to take part in this year’s celebration, which promises to be the biggest and most memorable yet.
