A fresh confrontation has erupted in El Puertito in Adeje, as tensions continue to mount over the controversial Cuna del Alma tourism project in the south of Tenerife.
Footage shared on social media shows a heated exchange between a man and private security guards at the construction site.
The guards can be seen patrolling fenced-off land linked to the Cuna del Alma development. In the video, the man can be heard shouting, “The day he gets the chance, he’ll kick you too”, a threat aimed at a third person not seen in the clip. The guards are seen preventing him from entering the site and even chasing him down a slope to block his path.
The incident took place close to a makeshift settlement where dozens of people live in shacks year-round, some due to poverty, others because they can’t afford to rent a home in the increasingly unaffordable south of the island.
The Cuna del Alma project is a controversial luxury tourism development planned for El Puertito de Adeje. Backed by Belgian investors, the €350 million project includes hundreds of high-end properties and leisure facilities.
The project has faced growing backlash from environmental groups, many of whom have called for construction to be halted permanently. While parts of the development remain on hold pending new permits, tensions between locals, activists, and developers show no signs of easing.
