Tenerife Cabildo to spend €2.8 million on new seats for the Heliodoro Stadium

The Tenerife Cabildo has confirmed a €2.8 million investment to replace all of the seats at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López football stadium, aiming to complete the upgrade before the start of the new season in late August, when CD Tenerife will begin competing in the Primera RFEF league.

The new seats will be foldable and form part of a broader renovation plan for the stadium, which is owned by the Cabildo. The upgrade is intended to bring the facility up to modern standards of quality, comfort, and accessibility for fans.

In a statement, Lope Afonso, Vice President of the Cabildo and Councillor for Tourism, said: “This is another step forward in our commitment to CD Tenerife and its supporters. We want the Heliodoro to be a benchmark stadium, not just for the game itself but also for the spectator experience.”

Yolanda Moliné, Councillor for Sports, emphasised that the renovation meets current La Liga standards and addresses both the ageing infrastructure and future needs of the venue.

The new auto-folding seats are designed to offer improved comfort, better accessibility, and enhanced safety by easing movement in the stands and reducing crowding in access areas.

The project is part of a wider initiative to revitalise the historic stadium and provide CD Tenerife fans with a more modern and enjoyable matchday environment.
