Teenager rescued by helicopter after struggling in the sea in Tenerife

A 14-year-old boy was rescued yesterday afternoon (Tuesday) after getting into difficulty in the sea at Punta Brava, in Puerto de la Cruz, in the of north Tenerife, according to reports from the emergency services.

The incident occurred at 5:25pm, when the 112 emergency coordination centre received reports of two teenagers struggling in the water, and immediately deployed the relevant emergency resources to the location given.

Helicopter Rescue Operation

A GES rescue helicopter was sent to the area and successfully airlifted one of the boys, who was unable to get out of the water on his own. He was taken to the municipal baseball field in Puerto de la Cruz.

The second boy involved in the incident managed to reach safety without direct assistance from emergency teams.

Taken to Health Centre

Once on land, paramedics assessed the rescued teenager, who was found to have minor health issues at the time of initial treatment. He was later taken by ambulance to the local health centre in Puerto de la Cruz for further treatment.

The emergency response also involved Maritime Rescue teams, firefighters from the Tenerife Fire Consortium, as well as officers from the National Police and Local Police.
