A 14-year-old schoolboy has been arrested after allegedly stabbing another student outside a secondary school in Tenerife.
The incident happened just after classes finished yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) outside IES Domingo Pérez Minik in La Laguna.
Police say the teenager attacked a 15-year-old classmate with a knife in broad daylight, just metres from the school gates. The victim was rushed to hospital with injuries described as of "varying severity".
Local police detained the suspect inside the school minutes later, after a resident captured part of the attack on video. The footage, filmed on a mobile phone, proved vital in identifying the boy and led to him being identified quickly.
Officers later found the knife hidden in the boy’s backpack during a search of his belongings.
A full investigation is now underway to determine what led to the confrontation and whether there had been any previous disputes between the two schoolboys.
