THURSDAY WEATHER: Light showers and cooler temperatures forecast across the Canaries
Servitaxi Tenesur SL

Light, occasional showers and a dip in daytime temperatures are forecast across the Canary Islands today, Thursday, according to Spain’s State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).

Cloud cover will be more noticeable over the more mountainous islands (Tenerife and Gran Canaria), with a chance of light rain at times throughout the day. Temperatures are also set to fall slightly, particularly maximums inland and in southern areas.

Winds will generally be light to moderate from the north. In higher areas, especially on the summits, winds will shift to a westerly direction during the afternoon.

Coastal and Sea Conditions

At sea, northerly or north-westerly winds are expected in the western province, with north-easterlies in the eastern islands. Wind force will range between 4 and 5 across most coastal waters.

A northerly swell of between one and two metres is expected around the western islands, so swimmers and those heading out on boat trips should take care.

Although rainfall is expected to be light and scattered, those planning trips inland or into higher ground should be prepared for cooler and occasionally damp conditions. Coastal areas will see brighter spells, but with breezier conditions and a building swell, it may not be ideal for swimming in some spots.

Island-by-Island Forecast for Thursday 7th May 2026:

Tenerife
Cloudy skies are expected across much of the island, particularly in the north and inland areas. Light and occasional showers are possible during the central hours and into the afternoon, especially in eastern parts of the island. Early morning showers may also affect northern coastal areas. Southern tourist resorts are likely to see more settled conditions, although cloud cover may increase at times.

Daytime temperatures will fall slightly, with a more noticeable drop possible inland and at higher elevations. Night-time temperatures will remain fairly steady or dip slightly. Moderate north-easterly winds will ease during the afternoon. In higher areas, winds will strengthen later in the day and turn westerly.
General temperature range: Low of 17°C and a high of 23°C.

Gran Canaria
Generally cloudy, particularly across inland and elevated areas. There is a chance of light, occasional showers during the middle of the day, mainly inland. A few early morning showers cannot be ruled out along the north coast. Southern coastal resorts are likely to remain mostly dry, though with variable cloud cover.

Daytime temperatures will hold steady along the north coast but fall slightly to moderately inland, especially on the southern slopes. Night-time temperatures may dip slightly, bringing a cooler feel by early morning. Northeasterly winds will ease during the day, turning lighter and more northerly. In higher areas, winds will shift to the west in the afternoon.
General temperature range: Low of 18°C and a high of 22°C.

Lanzarote
Generally fine with long sunny spells and only a few scattered clouds at times, particularly overnight and in the early morning. Conditions will remain largely dry throughout the day.

Temperatures will see little change, with a warm but comfortable afternoon and a fresher feel after sunset. Light to moderate northerly winds will blow across the island, becoming a little stronger inland and in more exposed areas.
General temperature range: Low of 17°C and a high of 23°C.

Fuerteventura
Mostly clear skies with occasional cloud intervals during the early hours. The rest of the day should stay bright and dry, making for good visibility across the island.

Temperatures will remain broadly similar to previous days, though a slight dip in daytime highs is possible in some areas. Light to moderate northerly winds will be noticeable, especially inland and along exposed coasts, adding a breeze to beach areas.
General temperature range: Low of 17°C and a high of 24°C.

Please remember:
It’s important to be aware that the Canaries consist of micro-climates across the islands due to the mountainous areas. This means all forecasts and temperatures are general for the island, and not location specific. It will generally be cooler at altitude up mountains, and warmer in sheltered coastal areas, and can be very different just a few kilometres away.
