Drivers in the south of Tenerife are being advised of temporary road closures on the TF-1 motorway this Sunday night (8th March) due to traffic improvement works.
According to information released by the Cabildo, the works will begin at 9:00pm and involve the installation of new overhead road signs designed to improve traffic flow and help drivers navigate exits more easily along the motorway’s slip road.
Planned closures
Several access points will be temporarily closed while the work is carried out, including:
- Exit 64 on the TF-1 heading towards Los Cristianos and Playa Las Americas.
- The exit at the Chafiras junction
- The direct lane connecting to the right-hand collector road

The work will involve installing a new overhead sign structure (gantry) with updated directional signage to improve traffic distribution towards the available exits in the area.
Alternative routes
Drivers are advised to follow alternative routes during the closure:
- Vehicles heading south from the Chafiras junction will be diverted through the industrial estate.
- Access to the Oroteanda junction will still be possible via the Chafiras junction or through the Parque de la Reina junction.
Motorists travelling in the area on Sunday evening are encouraged to allow extra time for their journeys and follow posted diversion signs while the works are underway.
