The National Police have arrested a 27-year-old man in Adeje, south Tenerife, accused of deliberately starting a fire that destroyed six vehicles earlier this month.

The incident occurred in the early hours of 3rd September 2025, when two fires broke out within minutes of each other on nearby streets in the municipality. The flames quickly spread to parked cars, leaving three vehicles completely burned out and severely damaging others.

Serious risk avoided

Authorities confirmed the blaze posed a serious danger to people and property, with the potential to spread to nearby vehicles, buildings, street furniture, and vegetation. Thanks to the swift intervention of firefighters, the National Police, and Adeje’s Local Police, the fire was brought under control without any injuries.

Investigators determined the fires were deliberately started using an accelerant, ruling out accidental causes.

Arrest and charges

Following an urgent investigation, officers identified and arrested the suspect, who already had a criminal record. He has been charged with arson and placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities.

The case remains under judicial review.
