Cloudy skies are expected across northern parts of the Canary Islands today, Sunday, with the possibility of light drizzle in some areas, according to Spain’s State Meteorological Agency, AEMET.
The cloud is mainly expected over the northern parts of the mountainous islands at heights below 800 to 1,000 metres, particularly during the early hours of the morning. Some weak and occasional drizzle could affect mid-altitude areas before sunnier spells develop later in the day.
Southern parts of the islands are forecast to remain mostly clear and sunny, while Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will start the day cloudy before improving through the afternoon.
Temperatures are expected to stay similar to recent days or rise slightly in some areas.
Moderate north-easterly winds will continue across the islands, with stronger gusts possible on exposed north-western and south-eastern coasts of the mountainous islands. Some gusts could become very strong during the afternoon.
Sea conditions are also expected to remain rough in exposed areas, especially offshore.

Please remember:
It’s important to be aware that the Canaries consist of micro-climates across the islands due to the mountainous areas. This means all forecasts and temperatures are general for the island, and not location specific. It will generally be cooler at altitude up mountains, and warmer in sheltered coastal areas, and can be very different just a few kilometres away.
