Students collect over 5,000kg of garbage from San Miguel's streets

In an effort to help keep their municipality clean, 2nd-year high school students from San Miguel de Abona have organised a series of clean-up drives in different natural areas. This action, which is part of the campaign “Nuestro municipio, más limpio” has resulted in the collection of over 5,000 kg of rubbish so far.

The clean-up drives, which began in Guargacho and Llano del Camello, have been carried out with the collaboration of the San Miguel Council through the General Services department, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of environmental care.

The campaign will continue over the next few  weeks, with new clean-up drives scheduled as follows:

- April 20th: Las Zocas, on the road to the K9 canine shelter (Camino Chimbesque) at 10:00am.

- April 27th: Las Chafiras, Calle Miguel Delgado Calcerrada, at 10:00am.

- May 4th: Guargacho, Calle Victoria Brifoux Mazzini (El Barranco), at 10:00am.

- May 11th: Las Chafiras, Intersection between Avenida Ten Bel and Calle Miguel Delgado Calcerrada, at 10:00am.

The San Miguel de Abona Council would like to invite the entire educational community and the general public to participate in this exceptional initiative. The collected rubbish is being sorted and distributed to the corresponding waste management points.
