Storm causes 11 flight diversions and 26 cancellations at Tenerife North Airport

Adverse weather conditions, including heavy rain, strong winds and fog, caused disruption at Tenerife North Airport throughout Sunday, with 11 flights diverted and 26 cancelled, according to the latest update from AENA.
Of the flights diverted from Tenerife North, all but one, which returned to Gran Canaria, ultimately landed at Tenerife South. The affected services included two flights from Gran Canaria, one from Bilbao, three from Madrid, one from Barcelona, one from Alicante, and one from El Hierro.
The cancellations at Tenerife North affected a wide range of inter-island and national routes. They included:
– One flight from El Hierro
– Two from Gran Canaria
– One from Fuerteventura
– One from Lanzarote
– Five from La Palma
In addition, outbound flights cancelled from Tenerife North included one to Bilbao, four to La Palma, three to Fuerteventura, three to El Hierro, four to Gran Canaria and one to Lanzarote.
At La Palma Airport, a flight arriving from Madrid was forced to divert and also landed at Tenerife South.
