The Spring Run 2025 lived up to the hype and then some, delivering a spectacular sporting Sunday in Playa de las Américas in the south of Tenerife. With a certified course running through the iconic Golden Mile, the event attracted 600 athletes across its two main race distances, while dozens of children joined in the fun for the popular Kids-Run.
Adding to the excitement was the presence of race ambassador and triathlon legend Mario Mola, a three-time world champion and triple Olympian. Mola didn’t just make a guest appearance, he laced up and took on the 5K, which also served as the Tenerife 5K Championship.
He certainly delivered. Running an average pace of 2:57 per kilometre, Mola pulled away from a strong lead pack to take the win in a time of 14:57. He was followed by Raúl González del Toro (15:09) and Pablo Cánovas (15:34). Jairo Paule came in fourth (15:42) and Aday Salas rounded out the top five (16:26).
In the women’s 5K, Yurena Domínguez claimed victory with a time of 18:56, ahead of Adaya Martín (19:54) and Diana Pérez (20:18).
Thrills Continue in the 10K
The 10-kilometre race proved equally thrilling, with José Francisco Meneses crossing the finish line first in 36:04, 26 seconds clear of Dionisio Guillén (36:30). Fernando Izquierdo secured third place in a photo finish with Rubén Moreno, 37:07 versus 37:08.
On the women’s side, Carmen Bueno led comfortably from start to finish, clocking in at 42:59. She was followed by María José Pueble (45:25) and Mónica Victoria López (45:53).

Speaking after his win, Mario Mola praised the event: “It’s been a beautiful race, highly recommended, with a very well-designed and scenic route. The support from spectators all along the course made it even more enjoyable. I felt great out there and it was an honour to be part of the Spring Run as its ambassador.”
With perfect weather and strong community support, Spring Run 2025 once again confirmed its place as a highlight of the Canarian running calendar.
