The Guardia Civil has arrested a man in Agüimes believed to be responsible for a wave of vehicle break-ins at the Arinaga Industrial Estate. The suspect allegedly carried out 14 thefts by breaking the small rear side window of cars to steal valuables, including tech devices, cash, and personal belongings.
The crimes, concentrated in the Arinaga industrial area, caused significant concern among local business owners and workers. The targeted vehicles were parked both on public roads and within private compounds in the estate.
Identified by his electric skateboard
CCTV footage from several nearby businesses proved crucial in identifying the thief, who was repeatedly seen travelling around on an electric skateboard. Security guards also recognised him, and Guardia Civil officers later found tools in his possession used to break car windows.
The man was first imprisoned on 11th June 2025 in connection with six of the robberies, but further investigation linked him to eight additional incidents, bringing the total to 14. Following his imprisonment, the string of break-ins at the estate stopped entirely, confirming his involvement.
The case has now been forwarded to the Court of Duty in Telde, marking the conclusion of the Guardia Civil’s investigation.
