A magical new attraction has bloomed in San Andrés, a village located by Anaga near Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where local residents have once again opened their charming Gnome Garden to the public, a miniature fantasy world created with love, imagination, and a touch of light.

For the third consecutive year, the neighbourhood association El Pescador has transformed a once-neglected plot near the bridge to Taganana into a wonderland filled with over a hundred gnomes, fairy houses, tiny dragon trees, and colourful flowers.

This year’s edition comes with a luminous twist as several of the figures glow at night thanks to solar-powered lighting, making the garden a delightful sight both by day and after dusk.

“The garden will look completely different depending on when you visit,” explained Marcos Cova, who designs and builds the display each year. “It’s especially popular with children because it’s right along the path to the local school.”

The association has invested around €1,000 in new illuminated figures, moss, and decorations to bring this year’s magical landscape to life. What was once an eyesore and rubbish dump has become a place of joy and creativity for the community and its visitors.

However, organisers remain cautious after several figures were stolen in 2023. “We’re hopeful it won’t happen again,” Cova said. “The neighbours are keeping an eye on the garden, especially at night.”

The Gnome Garden will remain open until it transforms into a traditional Christmas nativity scene in December, continuing a beloved local tradition that blends community spirit with a touch of magic.
