SUNDAY WEATHER: A chilly day with rain showers in the north of the islands
The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has forecast a cloudy Sunday with light rain in the north and mid-altitude areas of the Canary Islands, while most other areas are expected to remain largely clear but with cooler temperatures.
According to the latest outlook, moderate to strong north-easterly winds will affect the archipelago, with occasionally very strong gusts possible on the south-east and north-west slopes of the islands. AEMET has also issued a yellow weather warning for parts of the Canary Islands.
At sea, north-easterly winds of force 4 to 6 are expected, producing moderate to rough conditions. Along western coasts, winds will be more variable at force 1 to 3 with slight seas. A north-westerly swell of 1 to 2 metres is forecast, gradually turning to the north-east.

Lanzarote
Cloudy skies with wide clear spells during the middle of the day. There is a chance of light, scattered showers. Temperatures will remain steady, with moderate north-easterly winds.
General temperature range: Low of 14°C with a high of 20°C.
Fuerteventura
Similar conditions are expected, with cloudy periods and clearer intervals during the afternoon. Light and scattered showers cannot be ruled out. Temperatures will see little change. Winds will be moderate from the north-east, becoming occasionally strong on the Jandía peninsula.
General temperature range: Low of 15°C with a high of 20°C.
Gran Canaria
The north of the island will remain mostly cloudy, with a chance of occasional light rain, especially in mid-altitude areas. Elsewhere, mainly clear skies are expected. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged.
North-easterly winds will be moderate with strong intervals, particularly on north-west and south-east slopes, where very strong gusts are possible. Sea breezes will dominate along the south-west coast. Stronger winds may also develop in higher mountain areas later in the day.
General temperature range: Low of 15°C with a high of 19°C.
Tenerife
Cloudier conditions are expected in the north and west, with a chance of occasional light rain, mainly in the northern midlands. The rest of the island will see mostly clear skies.
Temperatures will change very little, although light frost is possible on the central peaks. Winds will be moderate from the north-east, with strong intervals on the south-east coast and far west, where very strong gusts cannot be ruled out. Sea breezes will prevail along south-west coasts.
